Autumn in the mountains
St.Peter turns golden yellow
The forests and meadows dive into beautiful golden yellow colors and the shadows become longer. In autumn the hiking season in South Tyrol really begins. The temperatures are no longer quite so hot. Down in the valley begins the "Törggelen", a traditional South Tyrolean meal where you can eat smoked meat, sausages, cabbage, dumplings, potatoes, chestnuts and young wine. The nearby cities, Chiusa, Bressanone or Bolzano, invite you to a shopping tour or a visit to a museum.
Excursion to the Alpe di Siusi in autumn
The golden season in Val Gardena
The autumnal scenery is very popular with hikers. In the valley there are still pleasant temperatures, which is why the paths to the low mountain range are particularly popular. The "Almabtriebe" (a kind of "Thanks giving") with decorated calves and cows takes place in autumn. Meadow or tent festivals with hearty food and traditional music are very popular in autumn.
